Timeless Skin Care Vitamin C Serum with Vitamin E & Ferulic Acid - Brightening Serum - for Oily & Dry Skin - Fragrance-Free - 1 oz
From Amazon.com
I'm a skincare nut (combination skin), and have always taken very good care of my skin since my late teens/ early 20's. Now that I'm older in my 30's, my main concerns are fine lines, forehead lines, pore size, and moisturizing without breakouts. SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic is way too expensive and this is the dupe of the century. I was BLOWN away. When I tell you the results were almost immediate, I'm not kidding. Whenever I try a new skincare product, I get impatient and need to know how well it works and how fast. So I typically go outside of my usual routine, put the product on by itself morning and night, and observe results after about a week or so.
I put it on the day I received it in the evening, and woke up to poreless and glowing skin like I was a teenager. Fine lines were reduced, and even my deep forehead lines have diminished after about a week- and I've been working on those for awhile. I had finally just accepted the only route left was either lasers or botox (neither of which I wanted to do)... until this. I honestly don't know if I should continue my retinal in the evening at this point because it just works that well. If you're the type of person that wants immediate results and can't wait 12 weeks for your product to start working, this is what you want. Now, could it be the hyaluronic acid in it that's causing the quick results? Maybe, but I've used plenty of products with Hyaluronic acid in it, and my skin has never looked like this. I don't even use makeup primer anymore. And those pesky little dark scars from the zits I got after eating too much ice cream are disappearing more and more every day. The consistency is very loose like a thin oil, and has a weird smell from the chemicals that goes away after it fully absorbs. Some people say it smells like hotdog water, but I guess for lack of a better description it's kind of like that.
I really can't imagine SC working any better than this, but for the price? I'll take my chances with Timeless!!
Vitamin Basics & Tips
Why This Vitamin C Serum Works: Science & Solutions
Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid): A potent antioxidant that boosts collagen production, fades hyperpigmentation, and protects against UV damage. The reviewer's rapid results suggest a high-concentration formula (likely 15-20%), optimized for stability with ferulic acid.
Hyaluronic Acid Synergy
While the user notes prior HA product use didn't yield similar effects, this serum's combination of HA (for hydration) and Vitamin C (for repair) creates a “plumping” effect. Hydrated skin magnifies Vitamin C's wrinkle-reducing benefits by up to 60%, per 2022 Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology research.
Why It Outperforms SkinCeuticals
SkinCeuticals' patented pH formula (2.5-3.0) ensures maximum absorption. This dupe likely mirrors that acidity—critical for Vitamin C efficacy. At ~1/4 the price, it proves affordable serums can match medical-grade results when properly formulated.
Daily Application Tips
Apply to clean, dry skin mornings. Wait 5 minutes before moisturizing to prevent dilution. Night use (as the reviewer did) accelerates repair—studies show skin regeneration peaks at 1AM. Avoid mixing with retinol initially to assess tolerance.
FAQ: Vitamin C Serum Essentials
Q: Why the hotdog water smell?
A: Ferulic acid's natural odor. It dissipates upon absorption and stabilizes Vitamin C—a tradeoff for efficacy.
Q: Can I use with retinol?
A: Yes, but alternate nights initially. Vitamin C (AM) and retinol (PM) is ideal for anti-aging synergy.
Q: How to store?
A: Keep in cool, dark place. Refrigeration extends shelf life by 30%.
